Flint Trained Bands

  • Flint Trained Band (Col Roger Mostyn?, Col Thomas Davies?)
  • Flint Trained Band Horse

The Flint Trained Bands of 1638 consisted of 200 men armed with 140 muskets and 60 corslets (body armour, signifying pikemen). They also mustered 30 horse.

The Flint Trained Bands supported the Royalists during the First Civil War. Colonel Roger Mostyn’s Regiment of Foot and Colonel Thomas Davies’ Regiment of Foot appear to have been formed from the Trained Band. Col John Aldersey may have led a Flint, or possibly Cheshire, Trained Band1).
