Notes

On 1 November 1642 Parliament ordered that Captain William Hill of Tewkesbury receive money from the collectors in Gloucester for the raising and pay of 100 dragoons and officers, according to the establishment of the Earl of Essex. On 18 November he was paid £320 for raising a company of 100 dragoons, whilst on 24 March 1643 Hill received a gratuity for his service at Highnam House. 1)
