Isle of Man Trained Bands

  • Isle of Man Trained Band

The Isle of Man Trained Bands were not included in the strength returns of 1638. In October 1651 the Countess of Derby held the Isle for the King in the face of an uprising by Iliam Dhone. Parliament sent an invasion force under Colonel Duckenfield which secured the island by the end of October. It appears likely that any Trained Band units were involved on one side or the other. Two white foot colours were found in the surrendered forts.
