Devon Trained Bands

In 1633 the Devon Trained Bands were split into three divisions, South, North and East, each mustering two regiments of foot, apart from the South division that had an extra demi-regiment. There were also companies at Plymouth and Dartmouth and a unit of horse under Col. Gorge with three cornets.

The Devon Trained Bands of 1638 consisted of 6,762 men armed with 4,253 muskets and 2,509 corslets (body armour, signifying pikemen). They also mustered 126 horse.
