 ====Marmaduke Holtby==== ====Marmaduke Holtby====
 Marmaduke Holtby appears to have been Lt Col of the regiment in November 1643 (Rawl. Mss. D 395 f.193/4 24.11.1643) ((Information kindly provided by Victor Judge aka BCW user '1642')). In December 1643 a Captain John Messenger was commissioned by Prince Rupert as a captain of cuirassiers in Holtby's regiment (see below). I know of no further mention of Holtby's regiment so perhaps he failed to raise it. A 'Col. Holtby' was said by a Parliamentary report to have fled by boat from a skirmish at Lancaut in the Forest of Dean in February 1645, uncertain whether the same Holtby.  Marmaduke Holtby appears to have been Lt Col of the regiment in November 1643 (Rawl.
