Sir John Owen had also raised a regiment of foot that served with the Oxford Army throughout the First Civil War, Sir John Owen’s (Oxford) Regiment of Foot. His North Wales regiment might perhaps be a detachment of the Oxford army regiment. Owen later orchestrated the North Wales rising in the Second Civil War.
