 +=====Coats, Flags and Equipment=====
 +Northampton's regiment are often said to have worn green coats as early as 1642. A Royalist William Legge was captured at the battle of Southam on August 23rd because he mistook John Hampden's men for the Earl of Northampton's, supposedly because of similar uniforms ((//Men-at-Arms 014 - The English Civil War Armies//, Peter Young & Michael Roffe 1994, Osprey Publishing ISBN:0850451191)). However Hampden's men had not received their uniforms at this date, see [[parliamentarian:foot-regiments:john-hampden|Colonel John Hampden’s Regiment of Foot]].
