 +Wee having been advertised that such forces as were lately drawn in thither out of our Western partes under the Command of Colonell Bampfield are in great distresse for want of paye have thought fitt to signify our pleasure that you forthwith pay them a weekes pay in such manner as you doe the rest of the foote there out of the contribution you have received out of that County and if you have not enough of that then out of such moneys as you have in your custody towards the rayseing ye Regiment of Dragoons,it being more for our present service these men already raysed should be continued than others raysed and they there of want of pay bee inforced to disband.

 +Yr orders to my Lord Crawford in his absence I have opened,his honor being gone this afternoone towards a village within a mile of Malmesbury with a party of some 200 horse of his owne and about 100 of my mounted Dragoons to see if he can meet with some of the enemies forces which are there,they being about 100 by intelligence,​his honor intends to fall in with them in ye morninge.I have sent your highness orders after him and expect his honors commands which I shalbe willing to obey with the utmost of my powe,soe not troubling your Highness further at present I rest,
