+[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_King_(Parliamentarian)|Edward King]] was a captain in [[parliamentarian:dragoon-regiments:lord-willoughby-of-parham|Lord Willoughby of Parham’s Regiment of Dragoons]] but was commissioned colonel in October 1643 and appointed governor of Boston and Holland. He fell out with Lord Willoughby, leading to exchanges of insults and nearly a fight between their respective regiments at the Battle of Newark. Cromwell approved of him initially as the //activist and fittest man in Lincolnshire//, but in 1644, due to his Presbyterianism, he was briefed against by the Independents as a persecutor of //all the honest and zealous conscientious men//, leading to his dismissal.
