Issued coats in November 1642, the colour was not noted. In August 1643 they were re-clothed, likely in red or grey 3). When raised the regiment carried yellow colours with tawny stars (Illustration 1). At Lostwithiel, under Colonel Davies, they were noted as carrying white colours (Illustration 2), but no devices were mentioned. In November 1644, with the re-equipping of Essex's foot, they were issued either green colours (with differences of yellow billets, yellow half moons or white diamonds), or crimson colours (with differences of yellow mullets or white balls).
