Notes

At the beginning of 1643 Popham disarmed Col. Alexander Popham’s Bath Somerset Trained Band of Foot and formed this volunteer Regiment of Foot. After participating in Essex’s Lostwithiel campaign Robert Blake took over, leading it as part of the garrison of Taunton.

These are to certifie whom it may concerne that Mr John Question of Dunster in the County of Somersett did dress and cure many wounded souldiers belonging to the Regiment of Collon. Robert Blake in time of the siedge against Dunster Castle for which he hath received noe satisfaction. Wee the Officers of the said Regiment who have hereunto subscribed doe certifie it. Lt.Col. Samuel Perd, Ge. Colbourne, Alex. Kingsland, Nath. Blake, Thomas Alaines, Rich. Hinkes, Ben. Blake, Hen Bourlich, Thomas Bere. August the last 1649.
