Notes
A history of the unit is shown in Edward M. Furgol’s A Regimental History of the Covenanting Armies 1639-1651 Edinburgh, 1990. ISBN 0 85976 194 0
The raising of the regiment appears somewhat confused, with some discrepancies between Reid and Furgol. Small numbers served in the defeat at Kilsyth and the victory at Philiphaugh. The regiment continued to serve in Scotland, notably being defeated in Huntly's raid on Aberdeen in 1646. Barclay retained his troop in the Scots New Model Army of 1647 while the rest of the regiment disbanded.
