Notes

A history of the unit is shown in Edward M. Furgol’s A Regimental History of the Covenanting Armies 1639-1651 Edinburgh, 1990. ISBN 0 85976 194 0

Uncertain if properly regimented, Furgol labels them a ‘retinue’. They mighthave been foot, horse, or some of each. In 1644 Forbes led a troop of horse, whether he also led foot is currently uncertain so for 1644 and later see Sir William Forbes of Craigievar’s Troop of Horse.
