  • August: Muster with Seaforth and Sutherland

1645

  • January to February: Join Seaforth’s force at Inverness
  • May: Join Urry at Inverness
  • May: Battle of Auldearn

1648

  • May: John Munro commissioned colonel of 800 foot and 120 horse to be raised from Sutherland, Caithness and Inverness by the Engagers
  • Murno instead raises his own clansmen and prevents the levy
  • August: Munro instructed to raise men from the Mackenzies, and probably disobeys this too

1649

  • February: John Munro of Lemlair joins Pluscardine's Royalist rising, taking Inverness on the 22nd but retreating by the end of the month

1650

  • April: John Munro of Lemlair raises his men and joins Strachan's Covenanter force
  • April: Battle of Carbisdale
